Education
Indiana State Law provides for K-12 students to apply to districts beyond their own. Robertsdale residents attend Hammond public schools, Whiting public schools and area private schools.
Innovative Education
Thanks to the vision of Mayor Tom McDermott, Hammond is home to two innovative education initiatives:
Robertsdale homeowners are elibigible for the College Bound program, a “full-ride” college tuition opportunity sponsored by the City of Hammond. This nationally acclaimed program was introduced to promote home ownership and offset the burden of higher education.
Opening in the Fall of 2010, the Academy offers a fresh approach to education. A project-based curriculum designed by Purdue University (Calumet), teachers embracing best-practices that often overturn convential methods, individualized instruction and structured learning communities are hallmarks of this new initiative.
